Hello! Newbie in Lugano from California

Hi,

We just moved to Lugano two weeks ago. My husband's job brought us here from San Diego, CA. We have three kids, 4 year old daughter and 19 month old b/g twins. Would love to meet up with English speaking folks in my area.

There are loads of American kids at that school near Lugano and I know of at least two American ex-ball players in the area. Plus Canadians, Brits, etc.

Also there is an Anglican church near the railway station in Lugano. Again, more multi-cultural folk are there too

And you're having better weather than those in Svizzera-Tedesco

Welcome to Switzerland, Margie!

Here is something you might be interested in knowing about...

Living in TICINO
The highly anticipated, new and expanded edition of "Living in Ticino"
was unveiled at the June meeting. This is a “must have” booklet for
all AWOT members – 160 pages of advice and listings regarding everything from education, legal issues, and doctors to hairdressers, restaurants,
and taxes. Price is 30 CHF plus shipping and handling. Copies will also
be available at the monthly meetings (thereby saving yourself the cost
of shipping and handling). http://www.awot.ch

Also these 2 discussion groups...

For those living in or moving to TICINO:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Expats-in-Ticino

I hope you are settling in well

Nice avatar, patriotic I see. Nice to see that.
Welcome to the forum and the country. With a little time and a lot of effort, you'll be comfortable soon.
Are you here on a work permit for long term?
