Hello,

I am a gay man studying in Lausanne. Been here for a few months, but the language has been a problem in meeting new people. Can someone tell me how to meet more gay people here in Lausanne? which clubs to go and how to get over this language problem? I know some basic french and I am making an effort but not progressing a lot.

Also, I don't like going to clubs alone and would prefer to go with others whom I know...so want to make a few friends first.

umm... The docks is a place not too far from the Mad (direction west, a few hundred meters) where this night club often does alternative lifestyle/underground stuff and regularly has gay/lesbian night:

It's a cool place, relaxed atmosphere, I've had people hit on me there regularly.

The Mad also has some "bubble" evenings, I think it might be once a week on Sunday? Don't take my word for it as I've never been to it, just heard stories, but it's more of a "quick hookup" place:

I've only been to the friday or saturday house/r&b/techno stuff there. Huge club, lotsa people. The bubble nights include placing foam all over the place and you kinda "grope" your way through it...

Don't worry about not speaking too much french, many speak english over here, and some quite well too. I'm sure if you go to one of the more gay friendly evenings at docks or mad, you'll be able to chat up other guys pretty easy.

If you are a bit shy maybe try a dating site on the internet? I know some of my gay friends met some people that way. Most of these websites have sub-webpages that are country specific ( I think gaydar was a popular one) maybe you know some already? Otherwise PM me and I'll ask my friends

Gaydar is very UK focussed (as it's a UK website). Try gayromeo, it's got many more users in this part of the world.

As mentioned, MAD club (in quartier du Flon) has gay nights on sundays.

There is a 100% gay club in Rue de Bourg (near Mc Donalds) called www.club4310.ch .

The main gay area is Rue de Tivoli with it's dedicated website where you can find every bars/clubs/shops www.gaystreet.ch

You should be able to meet people with those addresses.

As others have mentioned, the main gay clubs in Lausanne are 43&10 (any night) on the rue de Bourg and MAD on Sundays.

By far the best nights are Sundays at MAD on a long weekend. They draw huge crowds. A friend and myself will no doubt be going to the next one on September 19. I'm a 39-year-old Aussie and he's a 30-year-old Scotsman, both living in Lausanne. If you're interested in meeting up with us for a drink and/or joining us on September 19, just let me know.

Hi, I just moved to Lausanne (after a break abroad - was in Geneva before) and I don't know pretty much anybody yet, so I was wondering if anybody would like to go to the famous gay night in MAD tomorrow.

I have just moved from Ireland here, we are a 35 year old Irish-Peruvian couple but I am not gay. However, I would like to meet up to meet people too.
Let me know if there is an EF meeting on the horizon.

By the way, if anyone out there happens to know of a room or studio to rent out short term in lausanne until i get work, please let me know.
