Retired American considering Swiss life

I am 75 y o active geezer. I met a Swiss lady in West Africa while working for a medical/surgical program. We have now lived in the NY area for 40 years. I have visited Switzerland many times for hike, bike and travel. My wife has one sister still living near Basel. We both are currently considering a permanent move after a one year trial. I have been studying German and have some basic French. Wife is French fluent and also Schweitzerdeutch. I will be posting forum questions for guidance shortly. I would welcome any comments, suggestions and advice from forum members. Martin Bernard

Comments, suggestions and advice? You're 75. Stop wasting time posting and get over here. Don't forget your snowboards. That's my advice.

Anybody who calls themselves a Geezer has sold themselves if you ask me. I'll catch you at our 'forum' drinks. Hopefully it won't be in the Pink Parrot Pollox Par (or whatever it was called) next week.

Re: Retired American considering Swiss life

Hi Martin,

Very interesting. There are certainly warmer and cheaper destinations for retirement . You mention a one-year trial - do you mean you were living near Basel for one year? You list your location as NY, so I wasn't sure.
