Re: Pioneer 50-inch Plasma HD TV & Harman Kardon DVD-22

Hi
additional questions are:
Is this a HD-Ready TV? Your specs stated only this.

How old is it?

Did you know that HD-ready TVs are very cheap in Interdiscounts, Mediamarkt, and many are out of production, meaning no parts? I returned one just 12 months ago, it was 499chf for 52 inch Panasonic. The advert said "HD" but I did not know it, until I installed it and then repacked it back.

Another swiss pal here wanted to GIFT me his 3-yr old Samsung 48inch Full HD LCD TV, because no one wanted to buy it, not even 100chf.

I am neutral, just wanted to ask if it was just a HD-Ready TV, big screen yes but no Full HD?

Thank you for your questions!
Yes, it's HD-ready as the specifications sheet states. I've had the TV for 18 months and it was purchased new 2 years ago.

So without any additional speakers there would be no sound. Just trying to figure this out. Thanks!

I pointed out valid points to consider before buying.

IMHO, a HD-ready TV is not worth buying nowadays unless it is special or dirt-cheap.
A plasma TV has an allegedly shorter lifespan due to the heating element, etc.

Re: Pioneer 50-inch Plasma HD TV & Harman Kardon DVD-22

Just to say: pioneer plasmas are in fact amonst the finest in the business and useful also as AV presentation tools if anyone was in need as such. Even 'tho other brands and LEDs are about the actually display qualitys aren't really comparable. As long as the resolution is sufficient for a users' need the quality and contrast ratios are amazing, this is why new pioneer displays cost thousands.

Unfortunately I don't have a need for another Plasma but good luck with the sale

Re: PM sent

People like you should 'get a life' and stop interfering in other people's threads. The EF is full of people like you who are obviously so bored and so un-interesting that they have to comment on everything.
BTW - I came across this thread because I am actually looking for a TV and searched threads with TV in it.

You on the other hand had no interest in buying a TV but thought it your 'duty' to interfere. It's really quite sad and I feel very sorry for you

Re: Pioneer 50-inch Plasma HD TV & Harman Kardon DVD-22

Actually I think 'A plasma TV has an allegedly shorter lifespan due to the heating element, etc.' is important info for potential buyers, I got burned buying a plasma a couple of years ago. The sales rep said it would last 15 years and just after the guaranty ran out I started having issues, speckles of red and green getting worse and worse

Re: Pioneer 50-inch Plasma HD TV & Harman Kardon DVD-22

According to articles that I have read the shorter lifespan problem has mostly been rectified from 2005ish onwards due to better energy manegement technologies. I guess i'll find out
