Bought last year for the commute to work I have caught the bug and am
now upgrading to a larger bike. The Varadero is probably the best 125
you can get. It is a full sized bike unlike most 125s. It has a v-twin
engine and large 17 litre fuel tank. Even my bike instructor would not
believe it was a 125 and kept trying to prepare me for the bike test! As
new, the most expensive 125 in the Honda range it is not built down to a
price and is a very solid and reliable bike.
It has the maximum power allowed for an A1 license. To get an A1 license
as a car driver it is not necessary to do a test. Just attend 2x4 hour
basic training lessons.
Performance is good for a 125. The top speed is certainly faster than
any 125 scooter. On the motorway it will cruise at 100-110 quite happily
and is very stable. The fairing gives decent wind protection. On open
roads it can keep up with the traffic without problems.
Economy wise I measure 3.2 l/100km commuting to work including 20%
motorway. The large tank gives over 400km range.
It has a very upright comfortable riding position with no weight on the
hands and the full size is good preparation for eventually moving up to
a larger capacity. There is plenty of room for a pillion.
