You will be lucky to find yourself a half descent run around for 1000chf. I would up the budget a little bit, good luck.

We really don't expect to have the best car for this price but a car that will serve us for 2-3 years. | Quote: | | | | | You will be lucky to find yourself a half descent run around for 1000chf. I would up the budget a little bit, good luck.

At that price, get a bike, Halbtax card and use public transport on days with bad weather.

I would agree that finding one for that price that would actually run for 2-3 years would be quite difficult. We have an Opel Zafira for 4500K if you decide to up your budget. It's been given a rating of 6.0 on comparis.ch. And I'm an EF-er | | This user would like to thank Devyn for this useful post:

EF members have more money than sense when it comes to buying penis extns. status symbols cars, and always think they can sell them, 3yrs. later, for what they paid for them.
Still your best bet is Swiss Tony, or the other honest Swiss folk.

I would also agree you'll have a lot more choice with a larger budget, but when I was looking, I saw a lot fresh mfk between 1500- 2500, usually around 10 years old. Check all the sites I reckon Internet 2nd hand sites are your best option.

Less than 1.5k will be pretty much impossible.
My daughter got a 15 year old Opel Corsa with fresh MFK for 1.5k two years ago, still going fine.
But between tax, insurance and oil changes, she probably spends that much again each year.

Do you really need a car in front of your house?
Look carefully at the car share scheme Mobility. There is sure to be one near you, and all you have to pay is the
annual subscription, and the fee when you use it.
Everything else, including fuel, is included. Much cheaper than Fr 1'000 and you get a nearly new car with no worries, http://www.mobility.ch/en/pub/index.cfm
There are six pick up stations near you, http://www.mobility.ch/en/pub/stations.cfm type in Neuhausen...

. | | | | | My beef with mobility is you have to return the car to the place you picked it up from, which defeats the benefit of the concept of short term usage. I use a car for 4 hours then it's parked for 8-36 hours then driven for 4 hours again.

We actually use mobility for grocery shopping but for long distance it's not that interesting. We paid about 80 CHF from schaffhausen to ikea. I wish they would make some deals for long distance trips. | Quote: | | | | | Do you really need a car in front of your house?
