Forgive my cynicism, but it just sounds a bit, well, strange that you are going about getting the signature in this manner.
Nothing to be cynical about........ the truth is - employee's of the Australian government are hardly the sharpest tools in the shed.
- they are just tools.

When I needed my passport signed in Switzerland for a replacement, I needed an Australian citizen who knew me for over 10 years to sign the document.

LIVING IN SWITZERLAND this was hardly an easy thing to do.

Fortunately I have one mate here who qualifies, otherwise I would have been stuffed and had to have my documents sent home first and returned.

I also know of people that have had to 'FLY' to Brisbane (from within Australia) to personally hand in a document to be stamped (English visa).
- That's really unnecessary.

To be honest, if the OP is legit (well..... if the 'client' is also legit), it does make sense to sidestep bureaucracy where you can.

Point is this: How would a person they pluck off the street know if "they" are legit? A passport application is relatively straightforward, a transfer of land can be something else altogether.

BTW I still very much doubt that Australia (on one of her states and territories) would not recognize notarised and apostilled signatures for land transfers. Again, which state is it?

Re: I am looking for an Australian in CH to sign a document

Australia has a points test for ID verification, just like 100 points to open a bank account. I guess an Australian passport, Medicare Care Card etc. would meet the test.

Now I get it why you Australians need this "Thinking outside the box".

Unfortunately not exactly the same thing in this case.

Here we are posed with the question:

"Hi all,
You don't know me, or who I'm asking to help, but can offer your consent on a document regarding an asset of a potentially MASSIVE amount of money.
Nothing will go wrong !!!
I'm a Lawyer
I'll pay you
...... Tust me"

As opposed to:

"Hi,
I am "X" from "X". I require somone who fits this profile to sign "this" document "for this reason" relating specifically to "this". These are my "company's contact details". Thankyou for your assistance.

As I mentioned above, side stepping government stupidity is a national sport in Australia, and usually where it's clear, we are glad to help.

Suspiciously taking advantage of our criminal heritage with bribery does raise eyebrows.

I guess the key questions missed in this thread were:
a) Who are you
b) What do you want
c) What are the consequences
d) What's in it for me.

only b) and d) are clear in this thread.

Hi everyone

I am looking for someone living in Switzerland but with an address in Australia (it's already enough if you live here but you still have property in Australia).

Do you know anyone??

Thanks a lot!!!!
I don't mean to troll and I apologize if the OP is legit, but honestly, if I received an email with the stuff you just wrote on this thread, I would think "Yeah, right...SCAM!!!!!!!!". Delete.

Dear OP,

Even Australia is sufficiently developed to have its own embassies and consulates, even here in Switzerland. I suggest you call 022 799 9100 to take the signing of this transfer further.
