Needing Private Lessons for Apple Mac -Zug

I purchased an Apple Mac pro about 3 months ago and need someone to put me on the right track with the basics like filing, using keynotes, cut and pasting photos from the internet etc.

I have been used to using Windows and everyone I know who has a Mac loves it.... wished I felt the same. I'm just looking for someone who could show me the basics (for a fee) so I can use my Mac and all it's (supposedly) great features.

Go sign up on Lynda.com for a month and do some of their courses it's what I did and it was well worth the $25 dollars.

Re: Needing Private Lessons for Apple Mac -Zug

get familiar with the search system. It searches content as well as file names, so filing can become almost redundant.

I'm a complete sucker for making folders and placing them straight onto the desktop. I would never do that on a windows machine, but I've used macs since 1990 and have never lost a file....

Have fun - and definitely do a course (and use the 'help' facility a lot) - you'd be amazed what it can do...

Re: Needing Private Lessons for Apple Mac -Zug

Cut and pasting from the internet may be possible by just dragging the image to the desktop and then dragging it a second time into your keynotes file. Whether or not it transfers successfully will depend on how it is embedded in the web page and the graphic design features of the picture..

Have fun!

Thanks also to Sweatpea and Jim. I'll also give these a go.

If there is anyone in Zug available to also give some paid assistance that would be great.

It took me a while to get used to mine too, for the same reasons as you mention. But last summer I briefly reverted to a Windows laptop and instantly regretted it...

It's fine at work where the IT department shields you from the worst of the endless security and other updates and the endless pop-ups about "Network connection is now connected", "xxx is performing a background task", "xxx desktop icons are never used, do you want to remove them" and so on, but for home use I found it intensely annoying. I have now got rid of it...
