| | | Need a Deutsch-English interpreter (Bern, RAV)
Hi
Last friday I received invitation from RAV regarding infotag seninar. As my German is not good at all, I need a interpreter tomorrow from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM who could translate German-English speech for me. Message or PM me. We could discuss about the payment rate.

The will also test your German!

I talked to them, and they said its a group session. So I think the speaker will speak in German. How would they test my German and for what ?

You will also be told the benefits of doing part time work & short contracts.
They will give you a short written test in German to see if you can write an application letter & then will speak to you for a couple of minutes to establish if you have any knowledge of German or not. It's to establish if you need German lessons or not. It's possible that you will get a German test at some other time, my course was for English speaking people.

I mean second part of the session as you explained should be fine without an interpreter, but I dont think I will be able to understand the first 2-3 hr session if at all it is important. My German skills are pretty basic(A1.2) at the moment.

It's all about filling in forms & explaining what you have to do, so it's important but not that difficult. On your own you might struggle. However we had a Chinese girl who spoke very little English on the course I did, she muddled through.

I think I have already filled all the forms needed. Registration is already done, Employers certificate(Arbeitbeschinigung) and Antrag auf Arbeitslosenentschädigung are also ready. I also filled the forms regarding my recent job applications . The only forms I think I need to fill is monthly information forms(Angaben der versicherten ) which has to be filled I think starting from May.
So as I understand from your comments, it is possible to manage. I will probably record the speech, and later on could get it translated(unless I find someone till tomorrow)

If you have been here a couple of years you will probably understand enough, there is plenty of time to ask questions. It could all be explained in 20 minutes, however the company running the course wants to be paid for half a day. The guy was 2 hours late for us!

So I went without an interpreter. Thankfully I found someone who helped me understand few things. And yes, I also recorded the speech which I need to get translated with the help of a friend.
@Fatmanfilms: Thanks for so many tips. Actually I dont understand exactly what you mean in your last post. I will break it down and let me know if I am correct in my understanding. So basically every month I need to send two forms. First one which is the list of jobs I applied or interviewed is to be sent before the end of month to my RAV assigned personnel coach. Second payment claim form by 25th to RAV or BECO ??
BTW: On a side note, I would rather be much happier if I find a new job quickly.

Payment claim form on or after 25th to your casse (I assume BECO is a casse) They will pay straight away, the idea is you are paid before the last day of the month.
Any questions just send a PM.

Have a little look at a publication called "The Local": click on the link marked "jobs" and you might find something there. Only just found out about it myself.
