I am moving during July and require 2 strong men (preferrably 3) to move about 6 heavy pieces of furniture. The date required is 30th July or second option 31st of July. This offer is closed to big commercial operators. I only want small operators who more likely will give good personal service.

The move is local. Transport distance is 400 Meters or so. Therefore the van size is not an issue as long as each piece can fit in. A few pieces need to go down a spiral staircase (hence three men preferred) and at destination up two flights (1 floor) of steps. Parking space not an issue as we have private parking next to the house for visitors and a space will be set aside for the movers van. The street at the other end is quiet and there is parking there as well.

The furniture is top quality antique reproductions so speed is not an issue. Dents are!

My guess is that the job will take a few hours. If the pieces are transported with time to spare then other items will be offered to fill the time (minumum 3 hrs). Knowing my wife you could be working for longer than 3 hours if care is exercised!

I saw your message regarding moving your antiques. I noted you don't want a commercial operator but i just wanted to point out that one of the key advantages of using professional company is that their staff are trained to move valuable items without causing damage. My husband works for Keller Swiss Group and they moved several very heavy antiques for us on a very hot day and not a spot of damage to the furniture or the walls. I noticed when we had construction workers in they pretty much bashed something everytime they picked something up. So if you really want to protect your stuff consider using a professional moving company. They certainly will not be the cheapest but it depends what you priorities are and in the long run if you have to repair stuff then it will be cheaper.
