| Hi Megsch, I am touched by the response I have received. Thank you too!
She advised us there are employers who try and push the cleaner to accept cash only payment to renege on their rightful pension and insurance benefits. We find that unfortunate and want to help her avoid that situation. She should be treated as a valued employee, it is nice to see that EF members agree.
Thanks and all the best! | |

I have a relative that came from Portugal to France, legally a long while ago. Since she wasn't aware of all of her rights, and had a lesser education, she worked for over 10 years getting paid cash direct, and not that much either. Well she has worked a long hard life as a cleaning lady, where all of her previous employers had a lot of great things to say about her. Sadly, she has very tiny pension benefits, and can barely survive on what is allotted to her. Had her employers done the proper thing, and paid the little extra, with the correct paperwork, she could live a respectful retirement. Now she is always scrounging.
So, yes I totally agree with you and hour house keeper. Good luck to you both.
