International Performance Bike Research, 100 Euros paid

I'm posting this on behalf of someone running a research project that I just signed up for. The details are below, and you'll get more info after you sign up, but the main duty seems to be writing your opinions in an online blog, which is something that most people on EF are normally all too keen to do, but this time you'll get paid for doing so!

Switzerland is not on the official list of countries that they're looking for people from, but they are short on people (partly due to the requirement of needing to write in English), so apparently I can be counted as French, and people in other parts of Switzerland might be able to count towards the quota of Germans and Italians that are needed.

International Performance Bike Research, 100 Euros paid

I am looking for French, German, Italian, Spanish, Scandinavian and Dutch cyclists to take part in an online blog in English for 2 weeks. I need to find road cyclists, MTB, cyclocross and triathlon riders to take part in the blog giving their opinions on performance bikes. During the course of this research you will have access online to professional riders and mechanics.

I need people aged 25-45 yrs of age to take part and everyone who does take part will receive 100 Euros for doing so.

If you can help please contact me: suzanne [dot] xavier007 [at] googlemail [dot] com for further details

I'd try getting in touch with them anyway, they are pretty desperate for participants (and they're not going to ask to see your passport to check your age)!

Giving opinions on performance bikes???
Do they send you bikes or do you need to provide your own performance bike?

Define Performance?

I've asked her for more information concerning her background, the sponsors of the study, the output of the study and the protection of the data of those who take part. It all seems rather secretive.

Re: International Performance Bike Research, 100 Euros paid

Here's the background:

Quote:
We are a market research company, the company we are working for is called Prescient based in UK. The research is being done for a bike manufacturer who will be made clear to you during the course of this research. As in all market research, your details are kept confidential. We do not pass your details on to anyone else. The reason we ask for your address is to send the money at the end of the study.
The purpose of the study is to get some informed opinion of performance bikes. Noone will have any information attributed to themselves. Obviously any more detailed information about the study will come from Prescient when they send you all the details at the start of the study.
If you do want to take part, I do not give any of your details to anyone but Prescient.

I hope this clears it up a bit but feel free to tell me if you need more info.

Re: International Performance Bike Research, 100 Euros paid

I agree with you about the phrase "performance bikes" - it sounds a bit weird and is very vague. It could be a clue to suggest that the company is Asian (at least, I don't think a US or UK-based company would use this wording, and probably not a European one), more specifically, they are probably from Taiwan because that is the hub for bike manufacturing. To be funding major research like this, I'd put my money on it being Giant, but I don't know any more than the rest of you about this. If you want to know the answer to the riddle then maybe you should just sign up to be a participant!

Re: International Performance Bike Research, 100 Euros paid

hmmm 100euro towards a new mountain bike is tempting
but i'd like to know if there's a catch first....
hell if they SEND me bikes to test i'm in hehe
how can you judge a "performance bike" by looking at it?
is it "badge engineering" they're after??

Just for the record, this was quite kosher.

Mr Nui took part in their research, and had fun doing so.
