Our family needs a cello teacher (for an 10 year old studying Grade 2 Cello) and a violin teacher for 2 of my other children ( 13 year old studying Grade 4 violin and an 8 year old beginner with 3 months experience).

We live in St Legier--10 minutes drive from Vevey. We live minutes away walking distance from Haut Lac secondary international school.

It's absolutely necessary that the teachers come up to our house to teach. We have 4 children and each having different lessons and after school activities etc, I need the teachers to come to my home.

We are looking for music teachers with high qualifications: a music diploma in their instrument OR have or currently working on a B. Mus etc. from a music conservatory or university

Also necessary: a teacher with past experience taking students through the ABRSM exams or the Canadian system of "Royal Conservatory" exams.

Our kids will be taking the ABRSM exams since they are available here in Vevey. We are Canadians and it's possible for us to return to Canada in the summer for the exams (usually August) if they are studying Royal Conservatory.

I didn't know they gave out lists.

I tried contacting the "Conservetoire de Musique" in Vevey but it will be very difficult to place my children there. September might be the earliest. And, it's almost impossible to schedule all their lessons on the same day, near the same time.

So, I'm looking for teachers that will come up to the house. I'll phone the conservatories for a list of teachers.

Probably should have said a list of instructors on their website to possibly contact through the conservatory...

If the instructors listed can not do it they probably have some musical contacts who could.

Lausanne Conservatory seems very vibrant, esp since they brought into the fold the EJMA (L'Ecole de Jazz et de Musique Actuelle).

In the Lausanne conservatory, next to administration (1st floor), there is a board with private advertisements of teachers. Most of them have connection with the conservatory itself and you can ask for references.

Two of my boys are studying violin in the Conservatoire de Lausanne, and we are really happy. The level is quite high, lots of homework, but I think it is worth it and definitely more serious that private teachers.

My eldest son (7.5 years) is also in the kid's string orchestra - Ministrings. It is organised by our violin teacher. Quite amazing - around 30 kids of different ages playing music from all over the world. They have won several prizes in Switzerland.

Thank you so much for your help Lindochka. I think I will wait for a placement in the conservatory in Vevey first. The one in Lausanne is too far away unless they take all my children on the same day at the same time. I may consider looking into that if I can't get placements in Vevey.
