I work for free ( Au Pair/ hospitality..)

Hello, I offer work and will do activities I enjoy for which i do not request payment, therefore free of charge. The offer is valid as part time, mainly in hospitality, domestic and livein care.

A short list I'm experied with:
- child care, aupair, driving cars.
- customer service, IT assistance and admin.
- Fluent english and little (French & Italian)

I'm middle twenties, and giving first is a way to find new opportunities, just to clear any doubts. I'm open to negotiate any other full time work options if you need. My time for Switzerland is not settle, but I can offer long term reliability if you need. I plan to work&travel in more countries.

Valid since February 2011

Nicolas

What nationality are you?

You're not fluent in English as claimed (as least not written). Very basic mistakes.

Dear Swiss Bob
What makes you so superior to be so critical of someone offering their services for free to obviously improve their English and to net work in Europe. I someone like you would not offer to work for Free, Clearly you are just a negative mean spirited individual who just reads these sites to knock people. So just get a life!!!

Swissbob made a legitimate remark. It does not happen everyday that someone offers to work for free. I don't think any family (specially with small children) will feel comfortable to let you look after their kids for free just because you want to improve your English.

Why not? And I suppose you wouldn't take in Couchsurfers either because you don't know them, if you follow that same thread of logic? The OP might be hoax or it might genuinely by someone who wants to work for nothing to gain experience. Who knows? Personally, I think the OP needs to be a little more specific about their motiviations and why they are in Switzerland.

Hey Nicholas

Please be more clear about what you expect to find. Your list of services are very broad and quite frankly it sounds suspect. Are you a student, travelling through Europe? Or are you just here and don't have a permit to work so you are looking to get employment but not get paid for it in which case, no one can actually hire you without getting into all sorts of issues.

Telling someone to ... off, in your second post, isn't exactly starting off on the right foot.

I'm not even sure that one can work for free in this country. One would still be working and the government would consider that one might be taking gainful employment from someone who does have the legal right to work here.

Does the OP have papers or some other official permission to work in la Suisse?

Yes people can work for free it could be classed as volunteer work or a trial.

She? I don't see the OP giving the gender anywhere and "Nicolas" is not generally a female name.

I dont care if someone isnt here to impress. Getting off on the correct foot isn't about sycophancy, it's about civility. I won't disagree that Swissbob's post sounded a bit harsh. But there are far better ways to point this out The rude language wasnt necessary and detracted from the intention and effectiveness of AN's post

Note, however that AN was groaned by two other people, not SB, almost surely for having told someone to B¥€€€£ off. The fact that SB was a Forum Legend doesn't really enter into it. If a newbie had been the recipient of the verbal comment I expect the reaction would have been the same. If you had been a forum legend I would have written the same reply.

Besides, why would one belong to a forum if they weren't trying to get along at least a little.

As far as the volunteering, if you are sure you are correct, then so be it. But I thought that I remembered that it wasn't allowed for someone to perform work for less than a local worker would get paid for it, unless they were on an official registered work/study/internship/etc. program. Feel free to correct me but please name your sources as the OP did actually ask if that was possible. Or at least to answer their question properly this information needs to be known.

Thanks.

Re: I work for free ( Au Pair/ hospitality..)

It seems to me that OP wants to trade services, ie offering sitting for having a room to stay. Which is a fair deal, might work better if the wording was better. I am not sure about the laws, though, but one would still need a permit, right? So, there might be complications...Plus, if the area is nice, some nannies work full time for what is somebody's full rent on an apparment. Good luck, OP.

Dear Cata1yst

I am not very impressed with this Forum, It seems the older members just gang up on the NEWBIES!!! And Bully them, so my advice to you also stop picking on people who are just feeling their way in this country. You were a newcomer once yourself!!! I feel that is an extremely unfair comment. Some people are not so eloquent with their words and it may come across as being a bully or mean but if you read some of their previous posts you will realise that that is the way they are. Also you get back what you put in. If you feel that some replies to yours or others post are unfair/mean and jump on the band wagon and say exactly what you think it will end up being a tit for tat school yard squabble.

As has been stated before the OP was rather vague about a lot of things. Do they have the necessary permits? What are they wanting in exchange?

I'm sorry that you have found this site doesn't meet your expectations. This forum has a multiude of people and personalities who are trying to assist others in their daily life in a new country. You will find that most EF'ers are extremely welcoming and as long as you follow the rules of posting (no phone #, email addresses, no abuse etc) you will find that this site has a wealth of information and you may end up having some EF'ers as friends, I certainly have.

Take a deep breath as today is a new day.

Back on topic, OP out of interest have you found anything as yet?
