I work for free again - September 2011

Hello, I offer some work for FREE (voluntarily, internship, apprentice, etc) for a part time program (up to 4 hours a day). If you need any help, have just started a business/activity or cant afford to employ extra staff, please ask me. By free I mean there is no payment you have to make, and only to provide accommodation and food in exchange. My first Aupair/Housekeeper experience was in 2006 in UK and my last Au Pair experience was this summer 2011 for two months in Luxembourg. I suggest we can make a trial period and if we get along fine, we continue 3 months or more.

Qualifications and experience
14 years of education (High School, 2 Year University: 1 Economics, 1 Computer Science)
2 Years of paid experience as Aupair/Housekeeper/Nanny
2 Years Customer Service (telecommunication software and public transport)
Volunteer (the last family received first week for free to try my services; in the summer of 2010 I volunteered 3 weeks for a Hostel in Valencia)
Valid driver's license since 2002
Swimmer

Languages
English (IELTS Academic)
Good understanding of: Spanish, French, Italian

Lifestyle
Non-smoker and no drugs
No habits of drinking alcohol
No Religion and not judging
No tattoos or piercings

Re: I work for free again - September 2011

My offer is still available, I accept no payment for a part time program.
I have LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTS of free time.

Meanwhile I'm thinking to invent something.

Already saw that. If it worked it would have been removed.

Didn't know these were job qualifications.

People actually make hiring decisions based on this info???

The OP refers to past experience as Aupair/Housekeeper/Nanny.
You would have to be rather dim-witted to not use the above as hiring criteria for one of those roles.

OK, I've done that before. You need to contact me and give more details, for how long and how often, and where you live. I see Canada on your profile, and my offer is mainly open in Europe now.

I had a conversation with some people telling me that its impossible to work for free, as some business men may think that there is a catch, or that I can sue for not being paid. Well any business involves an agreement. I've done that before and i initiated a proposal to a business owner in Spain. He accepted my offer, I visited Spain and I extended my holiday as I received free accommodation for the work I've done.

To be clear, yes there is something I receive in exchange, accommodation, and the opportunity to travel in different places or learn new skills if I'm given new challenges. It doesn't have to be a charity, I've applied to one recently, they didn't contact me yet, so first come, first served. I get better with business people though.

You'll need a permit to work here legally AFAIK. Do you have one?

Re: I work for free again - September 2011

Can you tell a bit more about yourself?
Are you male or female? Nationality? Why do you want to come to Switzerland? Will you be legal in the country if you come? What kind of area would you like to stay... are you more city or rural?

I think you can sort something out if you give a little bit more information, because to some people on here it might seem a little weird. I do however wish you luck to find something you like!

Re: I work for free again - September 2011

Unc' Max has a point, what is your immigration status?

IIRC accommodation has a value and therefore income, so must be declared and tax and SVA paid either by you as self employed or einzelfirma or by the person employing you, if not it's illegal. Anyone employing an illegal worker and found out can face prosecution as a result... not good at permit renewal time.

For the mods/admin, there are a few people advertising services on here who are working 'black, where would that leave the EF for displaying the ads' should the proverbial hit the fan?

I would suggest to apply to UN internships.
There is a opening now in UNITAR in the public finance and trade programme.

Re: I work for free again - September 2011

Thank you @ramosc and @marymart

To clarify some issues:
As long as I'm offering voluntary unpaid work, I expect that the individual or organization who invite me there, to offer support about it, everything ethical from my side. I have obtained documents in the past without any problems. I don't exclude Australia or other places to visit, depends on who answers first. I have no commitments and I'm free like a bird.

Born in Europe just like Einstein I believe in SCIENCE. My ethnicity does not (matter) match the country were I was born or the place where I live now. The entities mentioned by some people here (like nationality, law, rights etc) have been created by the culture not by science.

The answer to why I want to visit Switzerland is the same as to why do the birds fly.

Re: I work for free again - September 2011

I really do think it is a brilliant idea - I just love swapping skills and time for free. I teach English and German to local kids against music tuition, tai-chi, shiatsu, garden help, decorating, housework (from the kids if they are old enough, or the parents).

But I am not surprised that people here are asking for more information before opening their doors to you. Nothing to do with prejudice of any kind, but just simple common sense and safety. I sincerely wish you good luck.
