agency for Chef/Cook or Gardener?

Can anyone point me in the right direction?, I am hoping to re-locate to Switzerland (Central) in the near future,so I am doing a bit of groundwork beforehand. Initialy I am looking for a Catering or Gardening agency which will consider English applicants, I have looked through the job section on this forum but that didnt help in this instance, I am trying to learn German and Swiss/German but I am nowhere near a level where I could attend an interview or even fill an application form. I have looked on the internet for such agencies but naturaly they are in German and this tends to be a bit off-putting at the moment, also a lot of them are catering for ski resorts etc these being seasonal positions, Im searching for something more permanent. Any help in this will be appreciated.. Thanks

I can't comment on the gardening side, as I don't really know that market. As for chef/cook...

There are several places you can look, but they are either in French or German. You will be severely handicapped if take this approach without having the necessary language skills. Yyou can have a look here, which lists quite a number of jobs in the Hotel/Gastro industry.

Another approach you can try is to simply find an area in which you want to locate, then do the research to find out all of the food-related businesses in that area. Make a list of the top candidates, then start sending them letters (if this is in a tourist area, you can write the letter in English and explain how you are overcoming the language barrier). This direct approach often works much better than going through an agency.

Other considerations before making the move: work permit? your age (if you are older than 25, then you will have significantly more challenges ahead of you in finding a job)? are you from an EU land?

Tips: Be persistent if you are serious about making the move. Be prepared to have a lot of 'no' in your near future. Be prepared to accept something far less than your expectations, experience or training.

Good luck,
Jack

Ill get there Jack, one way or another , once I get my head around all the different permits and language. (which Im sure will improve once amidst the natives). Where theres a will theres a way and all that.
By the way its interesting to see the Home Dining idea works over there, I had a little sideline with that idea quite a few years ago in Yorkshire. (on quite a small scale though) it was most enjoyable, although one or two scary moments. Ciao Kryz
