Hey all,

I am new to the forum community so please bare with me. I am a prior Information Systems Technician in the United States Navy and looking for a job in either Basel or Zürich. I am having trouble finding a job that i know that i am qualified for due to the fact that i have little or no knowledge of the more sought after OS platforms such as SQL, Oracle, or Unix. MY background is in Microsoft NT, NT Server, Exchange, 2000, 2000 Server, and Microsoft Office. I have installed, maintained, and configured LANs\WANS over fiber optics, Ethernet, satellite, and modems over the past 4 years. Am i just looking in the wrong places? Could someone point me in the right direction?

Unix is an OS, Oracle is a database, SQL is Structured Query Language, so you are only missing on Unix in OS and Oracle database. There are plenty of jobs around dealing with NT Server ......

The IT sector in Basel is pretty small. Most of the IT folks I know from the Basel area actually work in Zurich now. You might find a job at Novartis or Roche (though Roche outsourced a large chunk of their IT to Spain a couple years back). There are many more opportunities in Zurich.

You could fit in as a Windows Administrator a.k.a Wintel. Look for openings in Credit Suisse and UBS. And also maybe worth doing Microsoft Certification in Administration.

I've seen Exchange specialists and MCSE type stuff advertised here:
