BIS do allegedy boot you out after a certain time working for them and usually employ contractors paying well to boot.

BoyD once mentioned them to me in passing; they're clients of his so PM him. I can vouch for him being in the office spouting b*ll*cks today too, as I just suffered lunch with him (no editing required )

Thanks for the cheeseburger by the way.........

Are you important Lob, or have a budget to hire people?

All I got from them was some mints.
And the first time we met for coffee I had to pay coz the agent's cash card wasn't topped up...

I guess it serves me right for organising the flying pickets outside their offices *sigh*

It's my personal crusade to turn the tables.......seems to be working so far?

Although in GBN's case I was assisted by a fellow Knight so it must be a trend....

Oh and before I forget (I suffer from multiple post in quick succession syndrome by the way, already been confirmed on another forum) the D permit runs for max 5 years, then they have to kick you out, although this can be circumvented by going back as a contractor.

I think you have to be good for that to happen so don't you two (Lob and GBN) get your hopes up.....

Re: Basel IT Jobs

Hi Mattc,

Basel IT Contract market is pretty dead at the moment - though with network admin skills you probably stand a better chance than most. The Pharma companies mainly want SAP people. Roche is slowly outsourcing a lot of IT stuff to Spain.

I took a "permie" job with a large financial company in Zürich for the time being while I decide my next move, plus give me a chance to update my skillset.

Like you, I find it a bit frustrating that the contracts paying good money are in the UK - sometimes the lakes and mountains don't seem to compensate for the crap salary. Trouble is, the kind of work I do would entail living on the M3 / M4 corridor which is about as appealing as cold tripe. Hence I may as well take advantage of working at a large company - plenty of possibility to enhance the old skillset and maybe widen my choice of contract work.

The other alternative is living in Basel and travelling to client sites but the prospect of overnight stays away just does not appeal.

Break a leg etc.
Nick

Re: Basel IT Jobs

I heard about roche IT moving to spain as well. Just would be good to work nearer home!
Will probably have to take something in either zurich or Bern but i need to get back into the game.

Any ideas?

Contract employment agencies in Basel (for temp positions)??

Hi,

I am new to this forum. I would like to pursue temporary pharma jobs through a contract agency in Basel. I am an American currently living in Germany. So I would like to commute back and forth across the border each day for employment. Apparently, many people located close to the Swiss border commute back and forth each day in order to work in Switzerland.

Does anyone happen to know the names of agencies located in Basel that I could contact?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Please feel free to contact me.

Many thanks!

Re: Basel IT Jobs

Emitrav, you didn't tell us which industry you worked in so I did a search for "basel agencies" and attached your post to the previous thread we had talking about agencies and jobs in basel. You may simply find what you were asking for by scrolling up the thread now.

Re: Basel IT Jobs

Hello Matt,

I agree with HAT.If you are EU citizen and also IT professional then you will get without any problem B-permit (if you have working contract in duration more than 12 months and after 5 years in Switzerland you will receive C-permit on your request).I suggest you in searching for a job on the following adresses:
www.universal-job.ch
www.jobs.ch
www.gate24.ch
www.stellen.ch

Are you Bsc/Master in IT/Telco industry?

Good Luck!
Zoky
