certainly hope not at 47. Heres a nice sticky with a bunch of links. I know a few recruiters in the Geneva area, so if you can let us know which field, we may be able to direct you a little better.

Enjoy the reading : http://www.englishforum.ch/jobs/3653...=english+sites

What market sector are you in? I had the same opinon when I was in the UK at 40 years, too qualified, too experienced and they think too expensive. Network, network and network, use a mixture of Swiss / overseas aagencies. Look at options of competitors, self employment, etc. Put yourself in the seat of an employer - Why would an employer employ you? What can you offer? If you get offered an interview, research the market and go with a presentation and CLOSE the interview, with phrases like, 'How do you feel the interview went etc' - Is there any reason why you wouldn't employ me. Find out how many people are going for the job? On the web there is loads of info on interview technique, but I guess you are probably finding it difficult to get an interview. How can you differentiate yourself? etc etc etc - Good luck and don't let them get you down!

Thanks for the information, you are dead right with the reasons why, the deal for me is that despite people changing my CV style I still can't even get an interview to do the convincing. If I was getting the interviews I would be feeling a hole lot better.

I have sent stuff all over but there is very little in the way of responses very starnge scenario, as you read it's never been so good in Switzerland.

Good speaking to you.

Don't panic - It is not an easy situation, but if you are an experienced Sales and Marketing guy then you have to make it happen.

How long have you been in CH?

What sector are you looking in? ie are protected for a bit on the financial side. I am a Brit and hit the UK agencies and managed to get a job lined up in a month arbeit with an overseas employer. The Swiss agencies promised alot but delivered nothing. Getting an interview was almost impossible depite two degrees, good experience and speaking fluent German. I put my issue down to the permit and being not in the system.

Dont give up - Self employment / consultancy -

Re: Over the Hill at 47? [Looking for a job in Sales and Marketing]

Hi thanks for the feedback,

I have been here since 1984, but spent most of that time living in Switzerland but working in over sea's markets, this is why my local network is so poor.

This network has produced more contacts in 3 days than I have recieved in 3 months through the Swiss Head Hunters, which is brilliant! all I need now is someone to step forward with a proposition, I'm sure there are people out there who have openings in their companies, as I have been told 70% of the availbale jobs are not advertised.

Anyway enough of my ramblings, if your're in the Nyon let me know.

BR,

Re: Over the Hill at 47? [Looking for a job in Sales and Marketing]

The Industry sector was what we call Physical Security.

I worked for 10 years for the company Sargent & Greenleaf which iproduces most of the worlds High Security Locking solutions for Safes, ATM's, parimeter applications etc.
In 2004 the company became part of Stanley Security Solutions, which in turn is part of the big Stanley group worldwide

I ran the EMEAI Europe Middle East Africa India distributor operations out of Switzerland. After 10 years I was head hunted by a company called Format Tresorbau in Germany, to start a MEAI Middle East Africa India operation, after 7 months the owner decided he did'nt want to follow the ideas of his new CEO so fired him, which meant my project got canned as it was his idea. I later found out that they had lost a large German supply contract so finance was tight, if anyone is interested I can send my CV out if required no problem.
