| SQA Lead Needed in Lugano
Imaginventure SA, based in the lakeside city of Lugano in Switzerland is an incubator founded and managed by successful technology entrepreneurs. The company is seeking a Quality Assurance Lead for a new browser-based virtual world. The successful candidate will be able to work well in a startup environment where “wearing many different hats” and an ability to work under time pressure is imperative for the overall success of the company. To that end, the QA Lead will act as an individual contributor by writing test plans, testing software and regression testing. The QA Lead will also build the QA team from ground zero, hiring, training and setting the standards for the department. This is a rare opportunity for an individual to not only build a team from scratch, but also to have a direct and significant impact on the growth and success of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Ability to act both as an individual contributor and a manager a must – willingness to work in a start-up environment and wear several different hats.
- Build a team from scratch and be instrumental in the hiring and training process of a black-box testing team
- Supervise a team of game testers and QA engineers focused on testing online PC games and web applications.
- Maintain appropriate level of resources to meet ongoing demands of game testing
- Develop and maintain standardized procedures for testing games – test plans, bug reporting/tracking, regression testing
- Ensure game testers are tracking all bugs using Bugzilla (or other bug tracking software), documenting all errors, and regressing all fixed bugs
- Develop innovative solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness; evaluate and implement automated testing tools
- Monitor system-wide performance including load times, disconnects, client/server messaging, and game reporting mechanisms to maximize overall user experience
Qualifications:- 5+ years of QA experience, including at least 3 years as a QA Manager
- Ability to troubleshoot and analyze software defects
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Knowledge of performing usability, compatibility, performance, regression, and acceptance tests
- Must be extremely organized, systematic, punctual, and goal-oriented
- Ability to interface effectively with both business and technical coworkers
- Positive energy and willing to work in a start-up environment
- UNIX/Linux knowledge and familiarity with command-line tools a plus
- Familiarity with technologies such as SQL, HTML, C++, Java, and Flash a plus
- Ability to write scripts in a language such as Perl or Python a plus
- Passion for games a strong plus
- Professional experience with an MMO or virtual world a strong plus
