English speaking part-time job wanted

Hi Everyone,

I'm currently living in Biel/Bienne and am looking for a job in CH within an hour or so of Biel. I ultimately want to do a Ph.D. in clinical psychology specializing in child and adolescent psychology but for now am hoping to do research in psychology at a Swiss university. In the meantime I would also like to find a part-time job to financially support myself.

A little about myself: I am 29 year old American from NYC. I have a B.A. in psychology and Spanish. I definitely consider myself a playful and imaginative person as well as a warm, outgoing, caring, and fun yet disciplined person. I wouldn't mind working with children and enjoy their company immensely. But I'm open to almost any English speaking part-time job. I also speak Spanish and German on intermediate levels.

If anyone has any ideas or leads they would be greatly appreciated. This seems like a great forum site.

All the best,

Sarah

Re: English speaking part-time job wanted

Just wanted to add that I do also have TEFL certification to teach English and had one private student...but in the States. If anyone had any suggestions about breaking into teaching English (to children or adults) here it'd be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi there. I cannot actually help with the job request, yet concerning your plans for clinical-psychology studies you may contact the KEY Institute for Brain/Mind Research, which is to some extent connected to the University in Zurich (www.unizh.ch/keyinst). Good luck, Evangelos

Might be worth going in to chat to the people at inlingua, the often have job vacancies here in Basel, so check out your local office and see what they could offer you/what you can offer them. Try Berlitz and any similar schools as well - they will often keep a CV on file til they have a vacancy.

Good luck!

Hi Sarah! You and I seem to have very similar reasons for wanting to go to Switzerland - I am a bit younger and more interested in experimental psychology than clinical psychology. I would be interested to hear how things work out for you, and what you have to go through... what type of research are you trying to do, pre-Phd?
