Can anyone tell me what the average salary is for a software engineer in Basel?

Also, any additional information about the cost of a single family home would also be welcome.

Here's a comparison of median I.T. salaries in Switzerland in 2005/2006. This is taken recently from a trade magazine (infoweek.ch) and the source is the Swiss Association for Information and Communication Tech. (swissict.ch)

I live in Basel and my partner is a software engineer and I'd say that this survey is fairly accurate.

That is exactly the information I was looking for, and from a credible source. Since you live in Basel, can you tell me what an average family home would cost (detached)? I am German but working in the U.S., and I realize that no matter what I earn the housing will be different, but I would like to have a feeling of what my salary will 'buy'. The company offered me 111,000 Francs, and from what I am reading so far, that isn't bad. But it appears Basel is also expensive. Do some people commute from Germany? If so, any suggestions of what town to live in?
