Hi Maggie,
You might find the market for the type of job you're looking for to be pretty small in the French-speaking part of the country. The majority jobs for biomed. engineering graduates are with the big pharma companies near Basel: Roche, Novartis, Syngenta, etc. In the Lausanne area, there is little industry in the field, and instead the focus is on primary research. The university hospital (CHUV), the technical university (EPFL), the cantonal university (UNIL) and the cancer research institute (ISREC) are the big research employers, but I don't think there's much of a demand for people who'd like to be involved in marketing, sales, etc. However, there's no harm in checking out the websites for the above institutes to see what jobs they have available.
There are two things I can think of that might be helpful to you:
Novartis have an office in Neuchatel, which is a 40-minute train ride from Lausanne. It would be worth looking into job openings there, and the commute from Lausanne would be a lot more relaxing than the 'squished-like-a-sardine' Lausanne-Geneva run. (You can also get a fast train from Morges-Neuchatel with only one stop in-between.)
There are quite a few companies that serve the scientific community in Switzerland and offer sales/technical support for lab equipment and reagents (Bio-rad, Fisher Scientific, VWR, Milian, etc.). I'm not sure where their head offices are located, but I do know their staff are in Lausanne all the time... (perhaps because there are so many confused scientists in town that need help?

) Anyway, all the above companies would be worth a shot as well, if you're interested.
Good luck with the job search,
HeatherM
