I think he may have tried to put it all in uppercase and it was automatically formatted to not allow that.

Re: English Paper Correction

If the OP meant the post to be like a poster, then each line could be capitalized, and wouldn't necessarily need to be written in standard form. I will plead the poetic license defense for the OP, though, at a cut-rate of CHF20.

People people...

This has been done to fit in with today's fixation with abbreviations and acronyms. The above post could read

Quote:
EPC

PEPCANES (TEFL C)
FRC
CST
SGC
SAA
Rate: 30.- CHF Per Hour
SPP

PMFMIS
But then not even you lot who work in IT would get it :-P

Mistakes, being plural, requires 'are' rather than 'is'.

Re: English Paper Correction

Since I know you all, I have no problem saying you are being royal asses. Someone is posting a job ad and you are demeaning their thread. Further, there is nothing wrong with the use of capitalisation as such in an ad meant to be seen as a poster.

I hope a mod will remove all the posts.

And, yeah, if you're gonna correct someone else, be sure to not have any mistakes yourself - grammatical errors being more glaring that 'style errors'.

Re: English Paper Correction

If this were an ad for a cleaner I'd agree with you, Hash, but when English skills are what the OP is selling... bit harsh to forbid anyone to comment on those skills.

The point's been made now though (and, I think, refuted) so hopefully we can leave it at that. Serious inquiries please send the OP a private message as instructed above.

Except there was no problem with said skills and as usual, a small group went on to create more noise by going back and forth. Typical for the Forum.

Maybe, but just as in "for sale" threads, it benefits to OP as the thread stays top of the list... every cloud has a silver lining, as they say.

Triple fail. "English" should, in this context, have remained capitalised. See - the job isn't that easy!

Seriously, I do think the OP should specify whether he or she means English English or US English (or is conversant with both). I'd be nervous with a US native proof-reading what's intended to be 'proper' English.

The capitalisation was the problem in that it was inconsistently applied, as too was the punctuation - and yes even I didn't get it all correct, but then again I'm not asking for money in return from those who don't know any better.

To the OP, I'm sorry I pointed out the mistakes on your advert. I was just having a bit of fun, and apologise if you feel aggrieved. I wish you the best of luck in selling your English correction skills. Perhaps you could correct my mistakes to show us all how its done?
