I was curious, as there seemed to some that were (are) convinced that the term "American" was solely used to describe someone who comes only from the US, to ask what you/they would call the group of countries, collectively, between Columbia in the south and Mexico in the north? | |

Have you EVER met someone who was from either North or South America who, when you asked what nationality they are, replied "America" and the person in question was NOT from the US?
I'm not saying they
can't... I'm saying that in the main, they
don't.
People from Canada call themselves Canadian. People from Mexico call themselves Mexican (well, more like "Mejicano / Mejicana).
This isn't a question of what we call them or what you'd call them but rather, what we each call ourselves.
Behaving in a purposefully obtuse manner is irritating and I find the folks continuing this "discussion" as if trying to tell me what I can call myself to be offensive.
