| | | Pregnant foreign women to pay double for healthcare - SVP at it again Just read this in the news – summary: Toni Bruner, leader of the SVP says he wants foreign women who come to CH pregnant or fall pregnant within 1 year, to pay double the insurance costs to cover the costs of “free and high quality” healthcare that they can get. After all, he reckons that they are getting benefit for two people: the mother and the baby… A bit like only getting AHV benefits if you’ve been here for the 12-18 month entitlement delay thingy. I’m curious to see the next depiction of their bull and cow, and see how that works out on the posters…

And of course they want abortion to be taken out of the Insurance system and to be paid by the woman herself, whatever the circumstances.

I can imagine Carlos doing a fist-pump as soon as he saw Nil's reply after only 3 minutes. Hook, line, and sinker. |

This just reinforces my suspicion that the Swiss government is controlled by the health insurance companies...

Lobby.
It's not only health insurance. Some things are suprisingly gov micro controlled, some surprisingly not at all.
I should tell SVP to that there are countries with top notch health care that have zero insurance for babies until their 26yrs of age and actually pay thousands to their women to deliver, not vice versa.

Excellent point... about the lobbyists. It's a huge problem in the US, too. |

I was pretty surprised that the required "vignette" for the bicycle came complete with an ad from an insurance company for even more insurance for your bicycle. This country seems to be built on the premise of fear mongering.

Some loony says something in the paper and half this forum screams as if it's already passed into law. | Quote: | | | | | And of course they want abortion to be taken out of the Insurance system and to be paid by the woman herself, whatever the circumstances. | | | | | Who is they.
More precisely, are you sure it's the same they?
