Just....erm....because it's always "interesting" to give an economic perspective:
Inflation can be really misleading because even though prices usually go up, sometimes, especially with technology, value goes up even faster. The example commonly given is cars - while cars go up a bit every year, things like seat belts, crumple zones, air bags and the incredible advances in interior quality have in essence negated this moderate price rise.
However in future I'm giving the example of this Argos catalogue. 50 quid for a tin-strapped LCD watch with no brand? lol - it's worth 50p now. Another 50 quid for a Bush radio cassette player? http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5139378.htm?CMPID=GS001&_$ja=tsid:11527|cc:|prd:51 39378|cat:home+entertainment+and+sat+nav+%2F+porta ble+cd+players+and+radios+%2F+cd+radios+%2F
Sod Argos and any other lame recollections --- this, and only this was summer of '76 - heatwave and heathland fires fade into insignificance.
This was the sound of that momentous summer.
Listen very carefully (and enjoy) .... I shall play this only once.
