Mark Knopfler, guitar god

There are lots of these parodies around, but this is the best I've seen. Beautifully synched and clearly done by someone with a lot of talent.

Re: Mark Knopfler, guitar god

I saw on the TV a week or two ago that the Dire Straights were getting back together -- minus Mark Knopfler and calling themselves "The Straights"

I just don't see the point.

Are they implying Knopfler was Dire?

Must be skint, and it worked for Take That.

Mark knopfler is coming to Zurich, with Bob Dylan. Was having a look on ticket corner today and saw it. Can't remember when but it's there if you have a look

The only tickets available are perpendicular to the stage

Re: Mark Knopfler, guitar god

"Get Lucky" is a bloody superb album. Mind you I'm struggling to pick a bad one of these:

Golden Heart (1996)
Sailing to Philadelphia (2000)
The Ragpicker's Dream (2002)
Shangri-La (2004)
All the Roadrunning (with Emmylou Harris, 2006)
Kill to Get Crimson (2007)
Get Lucky (2009)

Each one has at least 2 tracks which are fantastics (in order)
"Golden Heart" and "Down with Bonaparte" - I quite like "Rudiger"
"Speedway of Nazerath" and "Sands of Nevada"
"WyeAye Man" and "Ole Pigweed"
"Postcards from Paraguay and "Don't Crash the Ambulance"
"Staggerwing Plane" and "Belle Star"
"True Love will never Fade" and "Secondary Waltz"
"Border Reiver" and "Piper to the End

Re: Mark Knopfler, guitar god

Let's just say, before I was able to write, I was singing songs from the "Refrigerator Band"* because the voice of Mark Knopfler was so awesome... Even for a 4 year old.

* "Singing in English" basically translates to mumbling the amalgam of syllables I could make out. The only true word I managed to understand and correctly repeat was "refrigerator". Dire Straits are therefore known in my parents home as the "Banda do Frigorífico" as in, the "Refrigerator Band". Their albums are next to the "Salad Face Guy", also known as Peter Gabriel...

Flat, somewhat uninspiring, yet still overpriced?

Too bad he paired up with Bob Dylan.
I will never ever go to a Dylan concert again.

Me too. Bloody awful noise. And I speak as a long-time fan, since around 1980.
