If you only knew how bored most of the pilots I meet are, doing short-haul commuter flights between boring European hubs. They would love seat-of-pants opportunities like this.
I fly in and out of 2 very small airports frequently, and I can imagine their feelings about "Friedrichshafen-Prague" or "Altenrhein-Wien".
You as a user gotta love those airports: you can check-in until 15 minutes before the plane departs, no queues, hardly ever an immigration officer. It's airways heaven.
It was fun recently landing at Schwerin-Parchim airport (northern Germany). We were treated like VIPs because our piper from Switzerland was the only international arrival that day. To attend to the 3 of us, 4 representatives of the police and customs made a special trip to the airport to authorise our arrival.
For an example of a scary landing and take-off, do a Google search for images of Lukla Airport. You either take off or end up at the bottom of the valley. During the take off the cabin steward was on his knees praying.
I had some visitors recently to ZRH and they asked me if I wanted to check out their plane. Very sexy indeed (the plane, MFHDDs, full integrated glass cockpit, terrain displays and FMS; some nice cherry wood interior and salmon sandwiches ). I got escorted through corporate security as a potential charter customer...9500USD/fhr, it may be a while before that comes to pass. It was almost enjoyable.

I meant scarier than Sitka's airport. It depends on the plane too. Juneau isn't bad in a small plane, but in a 737 or 727, it's a bit more exiting. ;-)
One of the most interesting take-off's I have done is out of Cusco in Peru. For several minutes the ground does not get any further away even though you are gaining altitude. The flight path is up the side of a volcano....
Of course for landing the old Hong Kong airport was interesting
I remember reading reports that the maneuver wasn't entirely without consequences for the pilot.
Yep that's the one, the video is a bit more extreme than normal but it was only when I was standing waiting for a taxi & watching the landings that I realised just how low the planes are when they straighten up to hit the runway.
Here's one for TerryH, lets hope the plane doesn't land in someones back garden as it did when I lived in Guernsey, nasty approach over cliff top then pub roof, finally bounce down the sloped runway.
(Awesome, the passengers don't clap on that flight I assure you)
Nice - when I was learning at Teeside airport we were always in the loop with Friendships, they don't look to be the most reliable of beasts even up close (but then I was in a Tomahawk so I can't be overly critical )
