How to survive Ikea: 10 dos and don'ts

I loved this little article on the Torygraph: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/the-f...and-donts.html. Now to find that floorplan for Aubonne as they're moving everything around to expand right now...

Re: How to survive Ikea: 10 dos and don'ts

There are fun things you can do in IKEA too to help beat the boredom.

You can take those fake tacky books out of the bookshelf and hand them out to people, telling them "read this, it will change your life".

You can also randomly load stuff onto your shopping cart and then dump it somewhere else. For example one box on every step of the escalator.

Strangely, my OH is no longer as keen as she used to be on me joining her on IKEA trips. I can't think why.

They missed the toilets and fire exit navigation trick. Ikeas are massive open warehouses with temporary partitions. Fire exits and toilets are therefore necessarily in proximity of outside walls. So to escape the bathroom section, don't follow the arrows, just scan for fire exit and toilet sighs in the distance.

I got shouted at for trying to go out by the fire exit once.

This was especially ironic as I'd spent the last hour or so trying to find a member of staff to help with some questions but none were available. I opened the door and all of a sudden I had about five of them surrounding me and shouting and the fire alarm was screaming too - but after I had calmed them down they did answer my questions. So if ever you need assistance in IKEA, open a fire door.
