Re: FAIL of the day

I debated whether to post this in YouTube of the Day or FAIL of the day.

FAIL won. The video's not great, but this guy FAILed big time.

Last night I was at Athletissima (a Golden League athletics event in Lasuanne) and one of the Russian high-jumpers, Ivan Ukhov, certainly wasn't sipping sports drink from his water bottle. He became totally ****-faced during the competition, and after deciding to pass jumping at several heights, he finally decided his time in the spotlight had come. He just about managed to remove his track suit on his own without falling over (he had to lean on a hurdle to accomplish this), and performed this stellar jump:

The video isn't great, but you get the idea...

He was eventually escorted off the field. We were sitting directly behind the the high jump area (just a few metres from where the jumpers would begin their approach) and were watching him with some amusement for almost an hour before this video was taken. His fellow athletes were decidedly less than amused by his behaviour (which included, among other things, a brief attempt at being a cheerleader), but we were in stitches.

The rumour is that it was vodka and Red Bull. Perhaps poor Ivan the aspiring high jumper took the marketing slogan 'Red Bull gives you wings' a bit too seriously?

EDIT: This video shows is much better, but I can't embed it.

Heather

Even though this is apparently a fake, I don't get it. This photo is full of WIN, not FAIL (she's an attractive woman, photoshopped or otherwise).

At the risk of making a fool of myself I think you should know that the face belongs to the Vice President nominee in the US for the Republican party. She's known to be a defender of gun owner rights and a member of the National Rifle Association.

When I dress up in Union Jack underpants and tout a large gun, you have permission to call me a failure. If the photo is a fake, then I apologise for my error.

Instead, two words. Intelligent Design. (A discussion best left to other threads. And not one I want to really join in on!)

I know who she is and I still don't get it. Wouldn't just about any nominee for a Republican Vice Presidency be a "strong defender of gun owner rights" (and why is this bad, anyway) ?

Who knows, maybe if she "dressed like that every day", Americans might lose some of their famous prudishness.

Or perhaps it's a more subtle jibe about her not holding the thing correctly, or it only being a BB gun ?
