Okay, I didn't do this, found it on a chemblog. It is however, one of the molecules in one of the pubs I'm an author on. Coincidence? I think not! |

Okay this one is way over my head. Is the molecule edible (Cheezburger)? What atom does Bu stand for anyway?
Found another one... awww. |

Ummm. . I don't really know what they were getting at. No, the molecule is not edible but it is lovely fluorescent and us chemists really like things that are glowy (definitely not scientific term). See photo.
Bu is organic chemistry shorthand for a butyl group which is C4H9. | Quote: | | | | | Okay this one is way over my head. Is the molecule edible (Cheezburger)? What atom does Bu stand for anyway?

Propyl, butyl, futile...
Or the so the mantra of the crystallographers goes...
flouresence as a subject scares me as it's too much like organic and physical chemistry together.
Who do you reckon did the pic? A bit random...

I can has parachut? http://www.kare11.com/news/news_arti...storyid=262357
Reminds me of a very bizarre article I read several years ago. Apparently, cats can survive falls from below 5 stories just fine and falls from above 9-10 stories just fine. For some reason between 5-9 stories they don't survive, perhaps due to a panic mechanism causing them to tense up. Very odd though, makes me wonder how exactly they came to these conclusions.

From the report:
"Because Maxim's, owner Sergeant Matthew Barkmeier, had a chip imbedded in Maxim, the humane society was able to track down his owner.
"Sgt. Barkmeier is grateful for the loving car his pet is being given while he's in Iraq. He told the surgeon he never expected Maxim to be the one with the battle scars"
The cat's owner is called BARKmeier? 'Loving car'? Is Maxim getting a Love Beatle? |

"Kitties away. . . . .!!!!!!!!!" | | | | | I think it's the same principle as the butter-side-down toast. Cats perform a twist in mid-fall to land on their feet. If they managed a full twist before they hit the floor, they just keep on going round and you get cat jam. higher up, they can complete another rotation and are back on their feet, pretending that nothing happened and that they didn't really fall off of the windowsill after being surprised by their owner finding them eating something off of the kitchen table.
I think.
