I recently applied to Bern university for entry in September 2011. I rather naively assumed that an A-level (english school qualification) in German, and a year's work experience at a German-speaking company in Bern would be enough proof of German proficiency, yet it seems that I have to either pass a Testdaf or Goethe Institute test by April the 30th, or take the University's own language test (at C1 level) in August.

As there are no examination dates for the Goethe and Testdaf before the 30th, it looks like I will be taking the Bern University and St. Gallen University tests this August!!

I would be very grateful for information from anyone who has experience with either of these tests, or who knows where I can take a language course in Bern over the next 4 months to ensure I am up to scratch!!
