Not sure if anyone has seen this website before or indeed it was discussed already, but I thought I would mention it as it is a great resource for anyone learning any/most languages. If gives you great tips and has a free forum where you can discuss with other members.

There are a couple of methodological jokes built inside. Under English, the most similar language listed is French with 40% vocab similarity... but under French, English is not listed.
That untertained me. I am surfing on that site right now. It is interesting in any case.

But I'm quite shocked to see that there are serious methods to learn a language.

I always thought that "falling in love" was the only (or at least best) way to learn a different language ..
But, then, maybe that's my "method" ...

French had more influence since the Norman invasion on English vocabulary, then English has had on French. English as a whole is open to more influences from other languages then French is. So ,not that hard to understand.

Simple logic is not that simple afterall: If 40% of vocab is shared, the number does not change whether you look at it frem Dover or from Calais. That's the meaning of the word "shared". But the most important thing is that you are searching my old messages and read them, it's good for you.
