I am very sorry if i take away work from locals and EFs but for what i needed this company was a better option. Top journals in my field (fluid dynamics) are suggesting it together with others companies. I have used their services to edit my PhD thesis and it saved me several headaches.
It is targeting academics that need help editing their English for technical papers. It is cheaper and much faster than any local editor and the paper will be edited by somebody with direct experience in your field.
Locals editors that i had experience with had an amazing English but not technical enough to meet my advisor 'standards'. Here i have to say that my advisor is reeaaaalllly picky about it, and my field is quite technical and mathematical ... Moreover, local editors were not alway able to understand the deep logic of the period thus they were slightly changing the meaning and the logical implications of the sentences.
Obviously, local editors have their major advantages (usually targeting different kind of customer, more flexibility, more personal interactions etc etc ) and you have to evaluate by yourself what do you really need and which is your best option.
