so hard not to push buttons - translation

i'm working hard to reach the German B2 zone. write now i'm straddling the boundary between B1 and B2. i'll get a 25% pay raise once i reach B2. how's that for motivation?!

it's so hard not to push the various translate buttons - embedded in my gmail, my firefox browser, etc.

on another note, i do translate for clarification if it's something important. the other day i got an email from my new boss and part of it translated as "f' you" . guess those translate buttons aren't always helpful anyway.

Congratulations. YOu are an exceptionally gifted student as it usually takes a good C1 level to see people get to that conclusion. Proof made that you are on the right way to official B2.
Stay on course!

thanks for your exceedingly positive post, Faltrad. having a native german-speaking spouse really helps with language acquisition . not i just need to bother to study topics like which case to use when and other grammar pitfalls .

Just in case nobody told you: The gap between B1 and B2 is biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig. It counts at least double. Progress seems slower, but it's just because you have to progress on a much larger front.

yeah, nobody told me that. hmmm. i get enough exposure to daily life stuff through friends, family, neighbors, etc. but i'm just now trying to stay on top of things like reading the newspaper regularly and watching television. if only my language progressed as fast as my 2.5 year old .

Sleeping with the enemy is always the best way to learn a language!

<< note to self: learn French, German, and Spanish.... >>

in that case, it's doubtful that my husband would appreciate me learning any more foreign languages.

I must say I did sleep with a Britt regularly over years but we speak German. Beside English, I confess: intimate relations do boost the whole experience. More speaking time, more understanding, no bullshit answers, intensive practice etc. In one word: quantity.

Note to self: keep looking for a Rumantsch ladin lover.
