Which is the best place to learn german in zurich.
Hi,
Can anyone hint or share your experience with regards to which is the best and cost effective place to learn German in Zurich. As its a really expensive course want to take some advice before joining in.
I was thinking about migros schule... Any suggestions or any other recommendations?

Good Morning, and welcome to the forum.
In my extensive experience, the best way to learn German (or another language), is to organise yourself a girlfriend/boyfriend with German as a mother tongue.

Ram.
I just signed up at Inlingua. They came highly recommended. I hear the cost is more but the quality is best.

In my experience the EB Zurich is great. I took all of my classes there and had great results. My tip to you is always go to class and do your homework, otherwise you can easily fall behind. You have to want to learn the language and put effort into learning. Good Luck

I studied at Migros Klubschule, and would generally recommend it (though interested to hear of others' experiences). I did evening classes (1h40, once a week) for a year, and started at B2 level as I'd done German for 6 years in high school.
There were 12 people in our class, but this quickly dwindled (in each semester) to around 4-5 regulars, so there was actually quite a bit of time for individual questions. I didn't spend as much time as I should have reviewing my notes or doing homework, and I think that if I had done so then I would have got more out of it.
I haven't ever had an individual tutor, but if I did then more self-study time would definitely improve your return on time (and money) invested. Either way, you probably need to spend at least as much time on individual studying as you do in class (as you would do at uni, for example).

i learned german at EB Zurich for like 6-7 months. really had a great experience. they have really excellent and experienced teachers at the lowest cost. the low cost is because it receives a subsidy from the government, and thus does not reflect any diminished quality, unlike any other school like Alemania for instance that has indifferent teachers.
i have lots of friends from the course, with which i go out often and speak german outside the class. the breaks are really enjoyable if you get posted to the Altstetten school, cos they have got a school cafeteria with affordable munches and drinks. you can really talk freely and and with ease with your course mates. might be just the reason that i have lots of friends there.
many people have moved from other schools to EBZ and find it to be better than their previous school, so it must mean something.

I've had the same experience with the Migros Klubschule. It certainly gets better after a lot of people drop out and you get more one-on-one time.

hey i had the same problem in finding a school i started an intense german course at Alemania and its fantastic and really well priced it FR.540 for teh month and its every weekday for 2 hours for 4 weeks. i love it im doing the next level at the start of the month, there staff talk pretty much all languages and if you cant do week days they sort out classes that suit each person. its located in albiserdraplatz <--- I prob spelt that wrong but the tram number 3 and 2 stop right outside the school
hope u find the right place for you
