In Schwyzerisch that's Gumalischtunggis, and in certain dialects if the lower St. Gallen Rhine Valley it's Groampärämuäs.

Re: What swiss german words do you like?

what really concerns me is the fact that I can understand what most of the words that have been posted mean even with the typically SG way of making up the spelling as we go along.I think I have been here to long

I think what you mean is "ä chlii," which actually is exactly the same as "a little."

Cute.

Here's a real tongue twister of the culinary kind: Zunzger Gschnetzlets mit Schpätzli. That's chopped meat Zunzgen style with soft egg noodles. Zunzgen is a village south of Sissach BL.

Re: What swiss german words do you like?

"versorge" in the sense of "put away", whereas in High German it means "take care of somebody".

We joke about it when we put things away, now we talk to them: "Are you ok, shoes? Is there anything you need? Are you hungry?"

Nagot, but that's Ticinese.

Don't speak much German around here (though my wife is quite fond of saying "Heil, Hitler").

Ha! A fellow nerd, excellent! To be honest, I haven't even bothered to identify my diatom. Would have had lots of diatom pictures on my external harddrive but was too lazy and just googled for a nice SEM picture and now I don't even know the species. Shame on me

köpfertaminamol - Swiss German - Köpfmetrooz
