I was, but that's non il punto. | | | | | hey, you're scaring my italian conversation friends away, they must be terrified of meeting me by now
but remember, we italian "professoresse" (I thought you were just throwing me in with the whole category) reserve our steely glances only for the cheekiest pupils...

it depends on the effect the scottish fondue has on your italian
but you can still be useful, even in a sober state: do you reckon we don't need to always make a reservation an Stall 6? I think that was the reason why go there with the group of german lovers.
that would be great, of course. thanks for any advice which might make our group fun and interesting (apart from it being about italy, of course ) | Quote: | | | | | Can I dial-in from the Flumserberge whilst enjoying a Scottish Fondue? | | | | | |

eccomi!
I have now posted the event as I have received confirmation from Stall 6 that they can reserve a table for tuesdays 18.00-19.30.
I hope it's fine for everyone, otherwise please PM. even better, come tonight for a first informal "feel the vibes" meeting to discuss further details.
for those of you who don't like beer, they have a nice rhum tea, too - that should keep the conversation going
how to recognize me? the crazy woman waving an italian flag
a dopo, eleonora

sorry for my belated feedback, thanks Goulya! I had a naughty lie-in this morning to catch up after our intense conversations about exciting life plans and weekend escapes... and guess what, I dreamt of touring the former soviet republics on a motorbike
well, as you see, plenty of conversation material in english OR italian...
oh, and Stall 6 is really a good place to meet, friendly and relaxed atmosphere and good italian wine. but also cappuccino injected with baileys or ome other stimulating stuff
so again, thanks to Prof. Taratonga and Federica for recommending it! would all the people who PMed me simply sign up for next tuesday? http://www.englishforum.ch/social-ev...-group-zh.html
we have a table reserved anyway but we can still adjust day or time if it doesn't suit most people. we italians are flexible...
buona giornata e a presto!

Hi
its a nice idea. I would need to brush up my italian too.
Do you know there is an italian conversation group in Zurich already on another expat forum?

buona giornata e a presto! | | | | | Venice, I am very glad this is taking off - cheers!
Do you know you can make a recurring event on the calendar, which gets updated every week, and people can sign up separately for each event? Maybe it would make organization a bit easier, because you can see who is coming every time.
Great event, by the way. I hope to be able to join you sometimes!

federica, we would be honoured!
thanks for the tip, actually I thought I had made a recurring event... now I see it is not appearing in march... hhmm, do I get that done? I'll try to work it out. | Quote: | | | | | Venice, I am very glad this is taking off - cheers!

Buongiorno!
I am interested in learning Italian- I'm a beginner with some vocab but would like to practice and gain confidence in speaking.
Has the group taken off?
I'm in Höngg and available Mon and Thurs evenings at the moment.
Grazie! | Quote: | | | | | dear EF italian learners,
buongiorno!
would you like to practice your italian? I was thinking it would be fun and also useful for some of you who need italian for the most various reasons to have a regular group meeting along the lines of the legendary prof. taratonga's German Conversation Group.
I don't think there is an existing italian conversation group already, at least I couldn't find one with the search function.
I would see it as an informal and fun occasion with chats and drinks in which learners for business, family, holiday, or simple pleasure of varying levels could practice their spoken italian and exchange information and tips about my beautiful crazy country.
we could think of a theme for each evening starting from a newspaper article reading, a film viewing or a short presentation or whatever else is adequate for starting a (more or less heated...) discussion on politics, love, football (hmm,I'll regret that ), fast cars, fashion, luxury, beautiful landscapes, great food... or even mafia, corruption, widespread poverty and general decadence. in short, everything you wanted to know about italy and never dared to ask (or never asked because your italian wasn't good enough ).
as for my qualifications, after graduating in italian and latin I have done a lot of adult teaching in germany, including italian language and civilization courses at university and taught italian at different levels at volkshochschule and private schools. I then chose to do something different for a living and wouldn't want to start teaching again, but the conversation courses were real fun, for me too! they introduced me to the soft side of the german soul
so, if you think it could be useful or interesting, let me know by post or PM so we can start thinking of a good venue. I haven't been in zurich for long yet, so I rely on your help to find the right place depending on how many come.
oh, last but not least: this offer is NOT commercial. I see it as a way of giving EF back some of the great help I received from this forum in the past months.
I look forward to receiving you feedback and suggestions!

sorry for the belated reply, there quite a few positive responses, but I'm afraid we never managed to get enough people together...
if someone else still wants to organize it, I'm in!
