Being exposed to New England accent all the time and surrounded by non-native English speakers I realize I have acquired some sort of non-accent international polyglotal English. Where is the Canadian (freferably fresh ) who would like to chit-chat with me so I get my nice accent back?

But they are not all that bad. Personally I like MG SIL's New England accent, it's just that I want to get back my own because it's so much nicer

No, not ALL are that bad but some certainly are. I just heard one the other day that was worse than fingernails scraping the blackboard. I cringed, ducked, ran to the bathroom and turned on the tap to counteract the reaction.

I'm finding my accent isn't changing but the way I construct my sentences is.

I'd volunteer to help but having been born and lived my early years in Canada ( Nova Scotia thank you very much ) and then lived in Boston for 30+ years I'm not sure my accent is entirely what you want to listen to.

I wish they still did elocution lessons to turn my non-descript British-American garble into distinct British, I'd be well up for it.

I used to be quite good at crosswords... not so good now... simple lack of subconscious exposure...

I wish I had a specific accent. My English is a mix of french, Turkish, British, Canadian and Spanish accents...

Now people can't figure where I come from.

that "eh" is a horrible stereotype and I wish people would stop perpetuating the belief that all Canadians punctuate their speech with eh.

off topic a bit but...
I had my iPod set to alarm the other morning and queued for classical music

now understand that I have albums and albums of classical loaded but the first three songs it played in order were..

"scotland the brave"
"land of hope and glory"
and
"Oh Canada" ( ok really.. why are any in a classical list I know )

that bloody machine is as confused as I am.

And having a Scottish accent, btw, is even sexier than Canadian
