| Re: Funny mistranslations
I have posted this before, but there was a Chinese restaurant in Oerlikon which had Krebssuppue on the menu. Their English translation read, 'Crabs Soup'.
I believe the Swiss call their Army knives, 'Sachmesser' which in high German has a completely different meaning.
I once had an inteview for a job as a chef in Switzerland. I didn't get the job and I had very few CV photos, so I phoned the owner ask her to return it. I meant to ask for my 'Lebenslauf' as I needed the photograph. Instead, I asked her to return my 'Liebesbrief' (love letter).
