German Conversation in Zurich...

Hello I am looking to practice German conversation skills. I live in Zurich and would be interested in meeting up with people in the area to just conversate in German. I am a beginner!! I have only taken 2 months of an intensive course and a few private lessons. I still feel quite lost with the language. It has become quite frustrating. I feel if I had more opportunities to practice conversation vs. grammar focus I would be more confident. If anyone is interested please let me know. I am thinking of just meeting casually at a coffeeshop, restaurant, etc. Thanks!!

Re: German Conversation in Zurich...

I am a German native speaker and would volunteer as a test subject for lunch in Zurich during the week if that helps.

Is it possible to meet during the day vs. in the evenings during the week for those who are interested? I am pretty flexible in my schedule...

Re: German Conversation in Zurich...

I live in the boonies, but work downtown near Paradeplatz, so lunch would be easiest.

Breakfast is also possible (HILTL?) but would have to be rather early.

Dinner or other after-work activities are sub-optimal because I like to head home after work and talk German and English with my wifey and the youngins.

Re: German Conversation in Zurich...

I am hopeful that we can co-ordinate something to accomodate everyone interested. I don't want to add any stress to Tomcat, sounds like you are already quite busy. It is nice of you to offer to help us out.
errna bonita- where is your class located? Lets toss around some times and locations....

Re: German Conversation in Zurich...

Lunch can be as early as 11 and as late as 1 PM.

Breakfast ... well, I really should be at work by (latest) 9 AM.

I work right off Paradeplatz. Edit - I can come & meet y'all @ HB for lunch.

I'd love too but I work about 30 min away from the center and I just don't have time during the day to take 2 hours off.

Re: German Conversation in Zurich...

How about a lunch Monday, Thursday or Friday of next week?

Suggestions for location? Hiltl comes to mind.

Time? Early or late to avoid rush hour traffic?

Re: German Conversation in Zurich...

I'd like as hell to participate but:

- I work at the Bank Center (Opfikon) which is quite far from the center
- My german doesn't go beyond "Meine vorname ist Fabio" and some other sentence

Any proposed solution?
