Re: German course with baby in Zurich

I would encourage you to try your local Gemeinde. I just asked mine (Thalwil) about German courses, and part of the form to register for classes was actually wondering whether or not you'd be bringing children with you (and asking to have their ages identified). I thought that was positive -- namely they were expecting kids and preparing for it. The downside was they only had A levels (i.e. beginning).

While I don't know about their childcare possibilities, the ones I'm currently focusing on (particularly based on reviews on the EF) are

Interlingua: www.inlingua.ch
Bellingua: www.bellingua.ch
Swissing: www.swissing.ch

Migros also has language courses, but there aren't that many conveniently located where I am, so sadly those don't work. But you might check their nice English webpage: http://www.klubschule.ch/Services/%7...4DD993669&_z=z

Good luck!

Check with your local Gemeinde. Some gemeindes have a Deutsch Konversationsgruppe and childcare is provided. Am not sure about the min age of the child though. You will need to have a basic in German in order to join this as you do need to converse quite a fair bit during the class. Its great if you want the opportunity to improve your German.

Re: German course with baby in Zurich

Try the AOZ - they do German courses with free childcare ... although newborns might be another question. They have a good website.

The WAC (www.wac.ch) in Uster is an English-speaking organisation which does German courses and offers childcare. Also not sure about newborns... worth asking though. Good luck!

Re: German course with baby in Zurich

Hi there,

I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned but ECAP provide a course heavily subsidised by Zurich council. A course (all levels, I think) from Sept-Feb costs 490 CHF and childcare for the course (2.5 hours x 2 per week) costs just 125 CHF for the whole period. Bargain!

Their website is: www.sprechen-sie-deutsch.ch You can register online and they should ask you to come in and assess your German. Classes either in am or pm and in central Zurich or Oerlikon.

Hope that is useful.

Do you know if places are very limited (ie would I need to sign up NOW to start in February?)

Re: German course with baby in Zurich

Hi there,

not sure if this thread is still active and if you are still interested in a German course with a baby. I am a qualified teacher for German as a Foreign Language And mother of a toddler, and I am currently starting a few German courses for mothers who wish to bring along their babies. Does that sound like something you would have in mind? If so, please send me a PM.

Thanks

Gesa
