If you are that enthusiastic you have an online course free of charge on www.bbc.co.uk/languages/french, it is good but you have to force yourself to do it regularly, I have a problem doing that

I took lessons through Klubschule Migros in Basel.

You may also find lesson information through the Auslaenderdienst in Basel Stadt. I know that the Baselland Auslaenderdienst offers good and cheap lessons in German, perhaps Basel Stadt does as well.

You probably mean the Volkshochschule. I have a friend who took classes there and was very happy with them. I know others that have taken classes there and were not as happy. If you can, check out the classes before hand to see what the teacher and the class dynamics are like. I think the teacher makes much more difference than the school. Though, better schools might have better teachers, but it is not always the case.
