Back in the 'seventies, there was a dentist in Zurich by the name of Angst (fear in German), and one named Boren (drill in German, just slightly misspelled but still a perfect homophone).
... and plenty of physicians called Dr Death, D'Eath, and other variants, in the medical registers of various countries ...

Here's another one from my Sunday hike.

Not sure I would fancy a disco organised by a company called "Welcome to Fabulous Hangover", but maybe it gives an indication of what the yoof of Ramiswil in the Solothurner Jura expect from a night out...

In Singen, close to the rail-station, was a shop owned by Hans Lunke, and he had a big sign outside, showing H.LUNKE Train passengers almost died of laughing

I am just back from 4 flights on Aegean. Excellent airline!
That's good news. Aegean will start serving Zürich shortly and so I like to hear that we get a good company now. In June, Zürich will get Etihad Airlines of Abu Dhabi and Etihad Regional

I hope that Aegean adopts a better name nevertheless

When I saw a sigh over the local Mothercare shop. It was called NOOKIHAUS. (one for the Brits)

Some wanker of a Salesman once knocked on the door. My Wife collapsed in the doorway when he gave her his card. His name was Mr. Seaman.

'av a Good Day all

What about AEGEAN AIRLINES ? Few people southeast of Dover can say it correctly. Try just to write it in German and you land up with something like Eydshiään I hope they revert earlier or later either to GREECE AIRLINES or better to OLYMPIC INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES

Presumably a German speaker would just use a hard G instead, so getting something closer to the English word "again"? Not a big deal, surely?

I still don't see what the problem is. Many foreign names are frequently mispronounced by non-native speakers, but it doesn't seem to matter very much. I'd guess that fewer than 1% of people would pronounce "Nippon" correctly, for example (where correct=the way the Japanese pronounce it) and there's a number of Spanish-named ones where I would have to just guess between a hard and a soft "c" sound.
