When I saw a sigh over the local Mothercare shop. It was called NOOKIHAUS. (one for the Brits)

Some wanker of a Salesman once knocked on the door. My Wife collapsed in the doorway when he gave her his card. His name was Mr. Seaman.

'av a Good Day all

Yes, an old joke: Q: What's long, hard and full of semen? A: A submarine.

My first ever job interview after I left university was with a certain Mr. Cock.
apparently that sort of thing was quite common in the 80s. The things people expect you to do to get a job. Are you a witness in one of those BBC trials?

Driving around Nowheresville, Indiana I must say I have developed new respect for the angler community 'round these parts. The local bait shop is called...

Diet of Worms.

(Almost enough to make even this ichthyophobe consider taking up fishin'.)

Swiss translation fail

If you see in Switzerland some funny translation fails please do share it here.

Recently I came across a company that does bathroom design and they cleverly selected "Bad Design AG" as brand name for the company. They even insist on the website (which does have an english version): "Unser Kerngeschäft liegt im Bad Design"

Here is a Treuhand Büro which offers financial services, Pension and Real Estate Administration and the like. For their English speaking customers, if any, the name would probably not inspire confidence.

A Swiss friend of mine worked for a Swiss cable/connector type company and they went through a multi million CHF re-brand. On the day the new brand was announced they had numerous calls from customers, both here and abroad asking if it was some sort of April 1st joke.

Even though they employed lawyers all over the world to check that the name wasn't in use elsewhere not one, even from English speaking countries, pointed out that it had a less than positive meaning.
