They're just trying to get off the ground, and Sbrinz has cancelled since no one signed up this week. I'd guess it would be a basic level for starters, as most folks are keen to learn.

Re: German conversation group in Bern

Due to my hasty organisation, everyone is busy today (Friday 20th February). The first meeting will now go ahead
next Friday 27. February 2015
from 5pm to 19:45, at the Coop Ryfflihof restaurant on the top floor.

Please sign up before Friday morning, if nobody is coming the event will be cancelled again.

Some ideas for discussion:
your job, how and where you work
things to do in Berne
holidays you have made in Europe
food from your home country

I would like to emphasise, this is your group, not mine. If you want something different then please come prepared,
bring 10 Photocopies if necessary to explain the topic, and we can try your ideas out.

I don't know any of the 10 people I have contacted by e-mail, so we will have to "suck it and see" about where the level is.

I don't think it will be fair on the group if you are just starting to learn German. I expect you to have had several days of German lessons already, and know some simple verbs and nouns. Please come along and practise your spoken German, or simply listen, but it would be unfair to expect us to teach you the language.

so I cannot post anymore today... http://www.englishforum.ch/social-ev...ry-friday.html

the first meeting is Friday 27th February 2015 (tomorrow)

Re: German conversation group in Bern

Folks, there seemed to be a lot of enthusiasm so Sbrinz has set up a recurring event:

Please sign up and get this going! I am very interested in this, however am not available for the next few Fridays.

Re: German conversation group in Bern

The first meeting went well, three of us arrived and we talked for over an hour.

The second meeting on 6th was cancelled, as only Jaidiey was ready to attend.

The next meeting is on this coming Friday 13th March, please sign up if you intend coming. I travel in from Murten especially for this event, and if nobody signs up by midnight on Thursday evening, then the event will be cancelled.

Friday 13th March, only one signed up, so I cancelled the meeting.

Please add your comments on this thread, and not on the "events organisation" thread, thanks.

10th April 2015: another disappointment. 2 members said they were coming, along with 2 guests. I was at the restaurant from 17:05 to 19:05 and nobody showed up. I am cancelling this event until enough people show an interest in German conversation.

Re: German conversation group in Bern

Sorry for not being replying before now and thanks Sbrinz for trying to organize something! Friday night is really not feasible for me, so unfortunately I will not be able to join you guys on a regular basis, when/if the sessions are re-initiated.
Kind regards,
Lotte

Re: German conversation group in Bern

Hello everybody,

I am an Indian dr. I live at Freiburgstrasse, Bern.

Is anybody interested to start the conversation group for improving their German? So, far I have knowledge till B2 (I have done from Goethe in Delhi and Alemania in Bern). If any German/Swiss native speaker will join us (to improve our spoken German), it would be highly appreciated...

Sbrinz, if you could help me(/us), then we can come for sure.. I have also 2 friends, one from Egypt and Serbia- who will join me.

Please contact me by PM or let me know, if somebody is for sure.

Thanks
