German class: ETH/UZH language center, Migros Club or Bellingua?

Hello!

I would like to start a semi-intensive German class in Zurich. I'm a PhD student so I can get classes from the ETH/UZH language center (but not for free). However, the language class there seems very slow (A1 in a year)...

Did anyone know which German class is better? Migro, Bellingua or the uni language center?

Thank!

Try migros. Costs more. There is a teacher there called Beatrice. Try to get in her class.

I'm doing a Beginners Intensive A1/1 course at Migrosklubschule, right now and think it's good.

Classes are twice a week, Tues & Thursd evenings, each for 1hr 50mins... running for 3 Months.

I can recommend it - but there are 2 more parts to this course and then higher levels again x3.

At CHF 700+ each course it works out expensive... I've tried teaching myself and listening to Michel Thomas... no joy.

In my class the ages range from 15yrs to 50's.

Good Luck.

Cheers
B

Re: German class: ETH/UZH language center, Migros Club or Bellingua?

I would not recommend Migros Klubschule. I am aware they are very cheap, but my wife made a course with them (German for beginners) and her experience was not good. The classes were really slow and mostly they were losing their time doing silly games. If I would be you (I also studied at ETH) I would take one of the courses at the University of Zurich and study a lot by my own (this is key when learning a language).

Also, I recommend you to do Tandem-Learning. The University of Zurich offers the possibility to register in a pool of people looking to do tandem and when they find a match they will contact you. Here is the link to register. I did it as a student and helped me a lot! Good luck!
