Need a document translated

I am searching for someone who can translate a 40 page document from German into English. It is a court decision from a swiss court that I need to provide about my ex to get my children's passports renewed.

Can anyone offer or suggest a translator please?

This is not the cheapest option, but you can request a quote and compare.

Re: Need a document translated

You could also get a quote from this firm located in Morges (I know the owner). They do a lot of high level translation for the banks and multinational companies so the level will be very professional.

Link: http://www.trans-adapt.ch/en/contact/

The question you need to answer is "what level of translation do you need for your specific purpose". If it has to be perfect, you will want to go with a professional firm that has a second person check the work and can guarantee the translation. If just a rough translation, you could get a law student or other to do the translation (assuming their English level is high enough).

Re: Need a document translated

Try www.proz.com. I've had lots of documents translated through them in various language pairs over the years. There you can find many freelance translators so the prices are generally better than going through an agency. Look for a translator with Swiss German (many court documents in Switzerland have Swiss German words that can throw off a few High German translators) as well as experience in translating legal documents. Typically freelancers charge by the word and a professional will provide you with a certified translation stamp according to their professional association standards. That being said it's always wise to check if those qualifications are sufficient for your purposes. Shame you have to have all 40 pages translated as that will probably be expensive. Good luck

I feel it will be short for such a specific legal document, you can end up giving it a different outcome .

Re: Need a document translated

Hi,

I have around 10 pages of medical report in German to be converted within this week.
I tried the guy on feverr but he said he does not do medical reports and not much of German->English.
Anyone knows any freelancer who might help and has a decent price tag?
Thanks

Have you looked up: www.gasser-ubersetzungsburo.ch
who I mentioned previously? I know that they have a stable of translators but I don't know how much they charge.

Cheers

Re: Need a document translated

I just checked it myself and strangely enough, the website only comes up on Firefox web browser, not Safari or Chrome. So hopefully you have Firefox. I will definitely tell my friend about this, I think she needs to change this.

Thanks

Re: Need a document translated

of course this isn't professional, but this is what I do for less formal documents

If the document is a pdf that has been scanned, then I
1. upload to google drive (make sure that settings have been set to read in scanned docs as text)
2. in the google drive text edit mode, edit out any scanning letter recognition issues
3. upload into google translate.
