Completely beginner in french

Hi all,

I am moving to Switzerland in May with the intention of learning French and broadening horizons etc. I only have basic school french knowledge though and was wondering if I could get a few stories of other people's experiences so I know what to expect. I'm not expecting it to be easy by any stretch. What a challenge I've set myself! But I've never done anything like this before so am completely branching out into the unknown and wondered if anyone could help by sharing their experiences, or experiences of friends etc.

Hi, and welcome in Switzerland!

I happen to live in Lutry as well, and I'm a private French teacher, let me know if you'd be interested!

You'll love Lutry, it's a cute little town, with a big English speaking community.

Re: Completely beginner in french

Oh good! I'm looking at joining a language school in Lausanne, the main reason being so I can meet people. I'm looking into it but am considering doing a one on one lesson as well to pick things up a bit quicker. It would be handy to have something happening in the town I'll be living in.

Is there a lot to do in Lutry for a 25 year old?

You could also try duolingo to give yourself a kickstart, I found it very helpful and fun too!

Take a look at wordreference. I think you will find it useful and interesting.

It's very close to Lausanne, where all the night stuff is happening!

Lutry is more family-oriented. Ideal for great walks by the lake, etc.
